Two Different Ingredients, Often Lumped Together
PDRN and exosomes both get filed under "regenerative" or "biotech" skincare, and marketing copy frequently blurs the line between them. They're not the same thing, they don't work the same way, and — importantly — they're not regulated or studied the same way either. If you're deciding between a PDRN serum and an exosome product, it's worth knowing what you're actually applying.
What PDRN Is
PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a purified fragment of DNA, most commonly sourced from salmon. In skincare and clinical use, it's associated with supporting tissue repair signaling and improving the look of skin texture and firmness. It has a longer clinical history than exosomes, largely through injectable use in wound healing and aesthetic medicine in South Korea, which is part of why it built momentum before showing up in topical serums and gels.

What Exosomes Are
